In that instant, her eyes lit up with pure emotion — a mix of joy, surprise, and disbelief. You could see the happiness overflowing in her gaze, as if the entire world had paused to celebrate their love. The surprise on her face as she realized what was happening turned into tears of joy, followed by the most heartfelt “Yes”.

The location Castello La Leccia is one of the structures I have most enjoyed during my experience as a wedding photographer in Tuscany. I have gathered all the most important information so you can learn more about the history, the structure and answer the most frequently asked questions about the villa. Enjoy your reading!

CASTELLO LA LECCIA: FROM THE MIDDLE AGES TO TODAY
Castello la Leccia is an imposing fortress of very ancient origins, located in the beautiful town of Castellina in Chianti. According to some historical documents, in fact, the complex was built around the year 1000 on the remains of an outpost from the Roman era. Given its large size and strategic importance, over the following decades the structure was divided among as many as 16 different owners. In 1077 a fraction of the castle was thus purchased by the nobleman Rudolph of Guizzo.

Despite this, Castello di Leccia continued to grow, becoming a small hamlet populated by about 70 inhabitants. Then, in the 18th century, a series of restorations and embellishments of the complex began, aimed at softening the manor house. This thus assumed the appearance of a real villa, in which the local nobles used to spend their days.

In 1920 Castello di Leccia was then bought by the Daddi family, which owned it for about a century. In 2012 Francesco Daddi commissioned a new restoration of the complex from architect Alessandro Loni Coppedè, restoring the structure to its former glory. Finally, since 2018 the castle has passed to the Swiss Sonderegger family, becoming a splendid hotel.

CASTELLO LA LECCIA: THE PERFECT SETTING FOR A FAIRYTALE WEDDING
Castello la Leccia, with its privileged position on the Mugello hills, is one of the most exclusive locations in Tuscany. Indeed, here history and nature merge gracefully, providing an unforgettable experience for the bride and groom and their guests. Thanks to the perfect mix of medieval elements and modern comforts, the castle is now the ideal setting for elegant and fairy-tale weddings.

Surrounded by the rich Mugello vineyards, the complex offers your event a breathtaking and unforgettable backdrop. Strolling along the shady avenues or in the large panoramic terrace, you will be able to realize a dream wedding photo shoot here. In fact, the great park of the stronghold hides bucolic corners, in which you can organize even the most romantic of symbolic rites.

As you approach the castle, you will then find additional green flower beds and courtyards put at your disposal. Enjoying the magical view of the Sienese countryside, you can organize a glamorous and youthful welcome drink here.

On hot summer days, the garden will also host your banquet, elegantly adapting to the style chosen for the event. The small village will not only be perfect for hosting traditional weddings, but also shabby chic or rustic weddings.

Castello la Leccia also has several indoor halls, of course. These are rooms rich in culture and character, where you will find numerous historical relics. They will therefore be the perfect setting for more exclusive and classic weddings, suitable for more formal celebrations.

Whatever your wedding idea, we are sure Castello la Leccia will captivate you with its beauty. Romantic, fairy-tale and highly refined, this beautiful village will only leave a sweet memory in your hearts.
